The Torre Beraum Major is the premium wine from Fuente Reina. It matures in French barriques for 18 months and is only sold a few years after the harvest, when it has reached its best drinking phase. It consists 100% of the Merlot grape variety, which thrives here on the loamy slate soils in the high altitudes north of Seville.

The scent is reminiscent of dark berries, liquorice and plums, along with the roasted notes of the wooden barrel aging. On the palate it has a remarkable fullness, but is always structured and balanced. You can drink it now, but it won't hurt if it's still in the cellar.

Total production: 2400 bt per year

Tasting note Frank Rembold April 2023: first ripening in color, a lot of depot, as it is unfiltered, so decanting is recommended. Of course I didn't do it and now I'm sitting there with my cloudy red wine. However, the cloudyness only applies to the colour, because the scent of this wine convinces me very much, first maturity, fruit bread, a hint of liquorice, not obtrusive on the nose, seems cool and clear. Only inveterate connoisseurs of the region come to Spain here. I would never have guessed it as the wine has no warmth to heat in the aromas. On the palate it is as fresh as the nose suggests. The aromas are found in the long finish, reminiscent of aniseed biscuits, the wine has a remarkable freshness, even a touch of acidity that suits it, the tannins are slightly sandy, but that doesn't bother me. The Torre Beraun Maior is very unique and really exciting. I would drink it over the next 3-4 years.
