The Steinporz in the Wachau municipality of Spitz is a terraced hillside vineyard that was first mentioned in a document in 1263. The term Borz stood for "small hill". The orthogneiss soil is heavily weathered here, which allows the vines to take deep root. The steep plot of land owned by the Grittsch family is ideally suited for the cultivation of high-quality Grüner Veltliner, which is why Steinporz produces a top-quality wine with the Smaragd predicate almost every year.

The 2021 vintage of the Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Steinporz has a pleasantly cool climate style, it smells of herbs, tobacco, fruit bread and white fruits. It has a good grip on the palate, with fine minerality and a balanced, long finish. Makes a lot of drinking fun when young, but can also be stored for a long time. This coolness and clarity has rarely been seen in recent years, which have all been characterized by warmth. A clear recommendation for friends of the traditional Wachau style.

Peter Moser from Falstaff magazine gives it a massive 93-95/100 points and particularly emphasizes the balance and fine acid structure.
