Producing sparkling wine from Sauvignon Blanc grapes is rather rare. It is not surprising that Steenberg, as a specialist in this grape variety, is trying to do this. And it works splendidly, because the exotic scent of this aromatic grape variety goes very well with a sparkling drink, as both have a certain light and cheerful quality.
The grapes are grown in the relatively cool Constantia Valley and harvested by hand. After the gentle whole-cluster pressing, the Steenberg Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc brut is fermented cool to bring the fruitiness to the fore. The wine then goes into the champagne bottle for the second fermentation.
The result is an exotic, fruity sparkling wine with a scent reminiscent of passion fruit, pineapple, lychee and cassis. It is very lively on the palate and transports the aromas of the nose to the long-lasting beginning. A pleasantly different sparkling wine, summery, sparkling and aromatic.
Enjoy it as an aperitif, with light summer dishes such as salads or vegetables or with goat's cheese. This attractive sparkling wine will find many friends.
