The depth and concentration of the Pinot Noir Goldberg from Weingut Wageck results not least from the very low yield, the excellent vintage did the rest. It was matured in French barriques, which gives it a noble elegance and its fresh and precise tannin structure. A very fine German Pinot Noir of international class that can really be confused with a Côte d'Or wine from Bourgogne.
In 2016 there was again a beautiful Pinot Noir from the Goldberg vineyard at Weingut Wageck from Bissersheim in the North Palatinate. Cool and polished on the nose, light tobacco on the nose with a hint of dried herbs and dried-herbal red and black berries, ripe cherries and some pepper. Clear and structured on the palate, a precise and rather cool fruit with salty minerality. In the long finale it is taut and elegant and has a fine tannin structure. Great!
Falstaff magazine gives the 2016 vintage 93/100 and writes: "Emphatically herbal-spicy scent, very ripe cherries, amarena cherries, forest soil, on the palate like velvet and silk, completely seamlessly round with a fine tactile - mineral trace inside, which gives the wine length and an extremely elegant charisma."
