The Sito Moresco by Angelo Gaja is today a cuvée made from the two most important red wine grape varieties in Piedmont: Barbera and Nebbiolo. Vintages before 2020 contained Nebbiolo, Cabernet and Merlot. The aging process has also moved towards tradition again; the barrique used previously has given way to the large wooden barrels in which Piedmontese red wines feel particularly comfortable.
The Sito Moresco Langhe DOC is, if you will, the entry-level red wine at Gaja. That might sound a bit strange at over €50 a bottle, but you get a lot of the mysticism and quality of this top winery in your glass.
