The Schlatter Maltesergarten in Markgräflerland / Baden is one of the best red wine vineyards in Germany. The south-facing vineyard benefits from long sunlight during the day, which ensures good grape ripening, and the cool nighttime winds from the Black Forest, which cool the Pinot Noir grapes and thus protect against jammy notes and forelegance in the wine worry.
The Martin Wassmer winery is one of the top addresses for wines in the Markgräflerland and is famous for its elegant Burgundy wines. The excellent 2020 vintage produces red wines with power and freshness that is rarely the case at this high level.
The scent of the Waßmer Schlatter Pinot Noir is reminiscent of cherries and raspberries, underlined by a subtle spice from the wooden barrels, which supports the wine but never dominates it. On the palate it is full-bodied and fresh at the same time, has ripe tannins and a perfect balance with a very good length. An enchanting Pinot Noir from Baden that will have its best phase up to six years after the harvest.
