The Schatzel winery is known for its crystal-clear and decidedly elegant Rieslings from the Roter Hang in Rheinhessen. The Pettenthal is now a Grosses Gewächs; in 2013, Schatzel was not yet in the VDP, so the wine does not have this designation. A newcomer in Rheinhessen on the Roter Hang. 2013 is hardly available today.
