The 2022 vintage of the Wageck Sauvignon Blanc Fumé Reserve 500 received 93/100 points from the Falstaff. This is an announcement that elevates this wine to the highest levels of this grape variety in the world. And the whole thing for just around €20! Taster Ulrich Sautter writes of grapefruit, roasted notes and lily of the valley and the body with a dense, tight structure.
Stylistically, the Sauvignon Blanc Fumé Reserve "500" is reminiscent of white Bordeaux with a touch of Styria due to its aging in wooden barrels. There is nothing overpowering here, which happens easily with this variety, but mineral, fine and with a lot of elegance.
