Château de Thauvenay is a traditional winery in the Sancerre area, once founded by the Count de Montalivet, Minister of the Interior under Napoleon. It is one of the few real castles in the Sancerre region. Since the end of 2016, Château de Thauvenay has been part of Langlois-Château.
The 18 hectares of vines are located on south/southeast facing slopes with calcareous clay soil, which gives the wine a racy finesse. Aromas of exotic fruits such as mango, passion fruit and pineapple can be found in its scent. On the palate, this Sancerre combines fullness and freshness, its crystal clear and precise nature are typical of the Sauvignon Blanc from this region.
The excellent 2022 vintage is characterized by intense fruit and ripe acidity, the Thauvenay Sancerre appears more full-bodied than in the rather cool previous vintage, which already received 90/100 points from Decanter.
