The Roda Reserva from the famous 2016 vintage in Rioja is still available in this decorative gift box. Since it costs only slightly more than the current vintage without the gift packaging, it is also a good choice for connoisseurs who want to drink it themselves.
The Roda Rioja Reserva is selected from plots mainly around Haro, which tend to produce more of a red berry Rioja. In this wine, the Tempranillo dominates with mostly around 90%, plus smaller parts of the grape varieties Graciano and Garnacha. The bush-trained vines must be over 30 years old to qualify for the Roda.
After fermentation in large wooden vats, the wine is stored for 14 months in French barriques, 40% of which is new wood, 60% are barrels that have been used for the second time. After another 30 months in the bottle, it goes on sale. The aim here is a fairly intense wood tone, which is always well integrated by the extract of the wine and the intense ripe fruit. Up to and including the 2001 vintage, this wine was called Roda II.
