The Rock Angel is the big brother of the Whispering Angel from the Cave d’Esclans. This winery has earned an excellent reputation as a producer of high-quality rosé wines. In addition to the red grape varieties Grenache Noir, Cinsault and Syrah, Rock Angel also contains some white Vermentino grapes. After the harvest, the grapes are checked again by hand at the sorting table to determine whether they are suitable for this high-quality Provence Rosé. Following fermentation, the Rock Angel is left on the fine yeast for about half a year and matured in steel tanks and wooden barrels.
The grapes for this wine grow in the AOP Côtes de Provence, northwest of the city of Frejus. Since, in addition to our own vineyards, small parts from vineyards owned by contract winegrowers are also used, the label does not say "Château" but rather "Cave" d'Esclans.
The Rock Angel is a rosé with high standards. It is much more than the simple rosé wines that are carelessly drunk on the terrace in summer (possibly with ice cubes). His goal is to make Rosé a serious wine for people who love something special. It is structured, deep, with elasticity and a very long finish that still has a creamy texture. You don't have to drink it young either. It develops in the bottle for a few years and even gains in aromatic complexity. The winery itself compares the Rock Angel with the minerality of a Sancerre Rosé.
We particularly recommend this high-end rosé with grilled fish or vegetables, shellfish, as an aperitif or with poultry dishes.
