The 890 Gran Reserva Selection Especial is one of the great wines of Rioja. The Bodegas La Rioja Alta name their top product after the founding year of the winery, 1890. It consists mainly of Tempranillo , supplemented with a small part of Mazuelo. The excellent 2010 vintage was aged in oak barrels for 6 years before being bottled after the final selection. But the 890 than will not go on sale. It is again aged in bottle for antother 5-6 years, until the wine reached its drinkability.
