Forst is definitely the municipality with the most famous Riesling vineyards in the Palatinate. This extraordinary Ortswein or Village, as Bürklin-Wolf calls this wine, comes from two of the best single Riesling vineyards in Germany, the Pechstein and the Jesuitengarten in Forst.
The 2021 vintage is known for its stylistically cool and straightforward Rieslings, which had a lot of bite and a fine minerality right from the start. Little has changed about that, the Forster Riesling 2021 from Bürklin-Wolf is now (2023) at the beginning of its best drinking phase, which will continue for a few more years. It impresses with its salty minerality, shows fine herbal notes and a fine peach fruit. The long finale is characterized by complexity and elegance. Very fine indeed!
