The Riesling Schoelhammer from Hugel comes from a particularly good plot in the Grand Cru Schoenenbourg. It is located pretty much in the middle of this exquisite Riesling vineyard and has a Keuper marl soil with clay content. The orientation of this steep plot is to the south.
This plot has always been considered a very special one in the Hugel house. Since 2007, these grapes have been grown separately, creating the winery's "About Grand Cru."
2012 was an excellent vintage in Alsace, with classically structured wines, similar to 2011, but with even more depth. Unfortunately, there are no reviews yet for this vintage (as of April 2024), the 2010 received 95/100 from Parker.
