The Winkeler Brentanogarten is located directly at the Brentanohaus, which was once used as a summer residence by Goethe and the Brothers Grimm. The walled vineyard is located on the banks of the Rhine and has a slight slope to the south/southeast, which makes it one of the warmest locations and therefore always produces full-bodied and ripe Rieslings.
From the 2019 vintage, the Allendorf family calls this wine “Goethe wine” because the poet and thinker once strolled there. Based on the historical location, this Rheingau Riesling is also prepared very traditionally. The grapes are crushed in the traditional way with your feet and then aged in large wooden barrels.
2018 was a warm vintage with rather soft Rieslings. This is particularly true for the Riesling from the Brentano Garden, as this location, as described above, brings particularly early ripeness. A full-bodied and fruity dry Riesling that has now reached its best drinking phase.
