The Werther Windisch Riesling 8 degrees 14 minutes is the local Riesling of the estate, located above the estate wines and below the Riesling from the individual Schlossberg vineyard. Here the straightforward, crystal clear and mineral style of Jens Windisch's wines is combined with good pressure and depth from good vineyards around Mommenheim. The aging of the 8 degrees 14 minutes takes place in stainless steel tanks and in traditional 600l half-barrels, fermentation is spontaneous. After a long eight months on the yeast, it is then bottled.
The scent of the 8grad 14-minute Riesling 2020 is reminiscent of herbs and yellow fruits, with a slightly floral note. On the palate it is spicy, unfussy and with good pressure. The long finale shows a beautiful minerality and the usual phenolic character of the 2020s. As of this year, the Werther Windisch wines are not only vegan, but also certified organic.
Falstaff magazine gives the 2020 vintage 90/100 and notes notes such as lemon balm, peach, apple and citrus fruits. On the palate, the balance, the juice and the well-integrated acidity are praised. We particularly recommend this great and inexpensive Riesling with river fish, dishes with sauerkraut or lemon chicken. .
