Real Agrado is a modern winery that owns around 100 hectares of vineyards in the Rioja Oriental. You don't buy any grapes, all the wines come from your own vineyards. Characteristic of Real Agrado is the high proportion of the Garnacha grape variety in the red Riojas. This has rather little tannin and gives the wines a smooth style.
The Reserva of Real Agrado consists of the typical grape varieties Tempranillo (60%), Garnacha (30%), Graciano and Mazuelo (5% each), which grow in the Canterabuey, La Lobera and Rodiles vineyards. The years of planting are 1975, 1992 and 1998. These old vines give complexity and density to the wine. Half of the eighteen-month aging takes place in American and half French oak barrels.
Real Agrado Reserva has a ruby red color. It has aromas reminiscent of ripe red berries and cocoa, vanilla and plums. On the palate it has the typical softness of the Real Agrado wines, seasoned with the right barrique aging, the long finish is soft and well balanced. This Rioja Oriental Reserva goes particularly well with red meat, stews and mature cheeses.
