The Puerta Santa Albarino won first prize at the Albarino Awards in Cambados.
The Bodegas Morgadio are based in Galicia, the cool part of Spain that is responsible for the best white wines in the country. The town of Crecente is located north and not far from the Portuguese border and is part of the Rías Baixas growing region. The Albarino vines thrive here, giving these wines their independent character and remarkable quality.
The label is modeled on the entrance portal of the Cathedral of Santiago di Compostela, hence the name Puerta Santa for this lively white wine. The Albarino vines, which are up to 40 years old, grow here on granite-sand soils in the Condado do Tea subregion. The expansion takes place in steel tanks.
The Porta Santa Albarino has a light yellow color with green reflections. The scent is intense, as is typical for this rather aromatic variety and is reminiscent of yellow and white fruits, melon and white flowers. On the palate it is charming, has an almost creamy texture, but is always fresh and elastic. The wine is extremely drinkable and is great fun from the first to the last sip.
