Chateau Clinet is located on one of the highest points of the famous Pomerol plateau, not far from the superstars Lafleur and Petrus. The estate has been owned by the Labrode family since 1999 and managed by Ronan Laborde since 2004. The grape variety Merlot dominates here, supplemented by 12% Cabernet Franc in the vine stock. Chateau Clinet has the potential to be one of the very best wines in the world, as evidenced by the maximum score of 100/100 points in Robert Parker's Wine Advocate for the 1989 and 2009 grand vins.

Pomerol by Clinet is the second wine of the chateau, which is made from 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc with the same passion as the Grand Vin. This is where the younger vines and plots that do not qualify for the Grand Vin find their way, but this wine is also significantly cheaper than its big brother. In top vintages like 2018, second wines are a very good choice, as this delicious example of a Libournais Bordeaux demonstrates. A great opulence, as is typical for a Pomerol, but never heavy, always with a lot of elegance and structure, plus a very long and harmonious finish. Another advantage is that you can drink the second wine earlier because it needs less aging in the bottle. The 2018 Pomerol by Clinet is now a pleasure to drink.
