The red wines that have come from the slopes of the Moselle, Saar and Ruwer, which are actually famous as white wine regions, are really remarkable today. After much deliberation, Dr. Carl von Schubert, owner of Maximin Grünhaus, decided to plant Pinot Noir in the steepest part of the top location Abtsberg. After fermentation, the resulting wine is aged for 18 months in French, Austrian and Grünhauser oak barrels. A very individual selection of oak, which underlines the independent character of this wine. In order not to dominate the wine, barrels from first, second and third use are used.

Anyone who has had this wine from the top vintage 2020 in the glass will no longer waste any thought that a few Riesling vines had to give way. This is really outstanding and just as elegant as the Rieslings from this top winery. The 2020 Grünhaus Pinot Noir is surprisingly strong and dark berry, the wooden barrel aging is recognizable by its roasted notes, but adapts well to the intense wine. An amazingly powerful and deep red Ruwer wine, which, in addition to the excellent winemaking, is certainly due to the first-class red wine vintage 2019.
