The Pinot Noir on the lower Geisberg is the top red wine from the Weingut Wageck. Not only is it a really great Pinot Noir, it is also one of the best red wines you can find in Germany, which is underscored by the first place at the Meininger Red Wine Prize 2022 (category matured red wines) for the 2015 Geisberg. Because it is produced from Burgundian clones, it is consequently called Pinot Noir and not Spätburgunder.

The scent of Geisberg 2016 contains noble and intensely scented new wood, maximum medium toast, red and dark berries, and some pomegranate. Everything looks elegant and profound. On the palate it is powerful and noble at the same time, fine tannins accompany the body rich in extracts, the wine has cool aromas with great precision and a lot of freshness in the very long finish. Great class again.

The 2016 Geisberg by Wageck was rated 95/100 by Falsatff magazine. Quote: "Lots of spiciness and bite already on the nose, combined with alcoholic warmth. Robust, herbal spiciness, lots of pressure, elder bush and raspberry. A wine that clearly makes you think of longer periods of life. Noble astringency with lots of potential."
