The Pinot Noir from Markowitsch grows in vineyards in the village of Höflein, north of Bruck an der Leitha or halfway between Vienna and Bratislava. It is also not far to Lake Neusiedl and the red wine cultivation in the Carnuntum wine-growing region also benefits from its mild climate.

This wine comes from the rather cool Rieden (= vineyards) Scheibner and Kirchtal, which with their calcareous soil offer ideal conditions for this diva among the red grape varieties. After harvesting by hand and fermentation, the Markowitsch Pinot Noir is matured in used French barriques. The 2022 vintage yielded first-class grapes that were perfectly ripe and completely healthy, a great opportunity to produce the best wines, which the Markowitsch family manages to do even in the most difficult years.

The 2022 Pinot Noir Markowitsch is a very silky red wine. It smells of ripe red berries, rose hips and a delicately spicy note. On the palate it is charming due to its very velvety tannins, but does not forget the finesse-rich freshness. An independent Pinot Noir that neither emulates red Burgundies nor German Spätburgunders, but has an individual style and still unmistakably reflects its grape variety.
