The Pinot Gris (=Pinot Gris) Grossi Laüe (Alsatian for Grand Cru) comes from the best three plots of the Hugel family in the Pflostig vineyard in Riquewihr. The average age of the vines is just over 30 years. The soil is is very calcareous, which emphasizes the finesse and minerality. Hugel credits his Pinot Gris with the greatest aging potential of all Alsatian grape varieties. The hand-picked grapes are processed very gently, the must is only moved in the cellar by gravity. The expansion takes place very traditionally in old large wooden barrels, before bottling is only lightly filtered. The result is a typical Alsace Pinot Gris with a luscious body and a creamy, smooth character.

The 2013 vintage was cooler than its predecessor and the harvest took place late but under ideal conditions. This is why the Grossi Laüe Pinot Gris of this vintage has a bit more grip than its predecessor, the alcohol content is a full percentage point lower, which increases drinking flow. Nevertheless, this is of course a very typical Alsatian Pinot Gris with a juicy body and a lush and long finish. One finds aromas such as baked apple, mirabelle plum and peach in its fragrance and long finish. An ideal partner for intensive dishes such as white meat with cream sauce, game terrines, mushroom dishes or poultry.
