Hugel's Pinot Gris Estate comes from limestone soils on the Pflostig site in Riquewihr/Alsace. The vines have an average age of over 30 years. 2020 was a year of exceptionally high maturity, but without botrytis, which gives the wines a very clear expression with a lot of body.
Of course, the harvest was done by hand, the grapes are brought to the press in small containers so that they are not crushed beforehand. In the cellar, the must or wine is then transported exclusively with the help of gravity, everything here is designed to process it as gently as possible. The Pinot Gris Estate is aged in wooden barrels of various sizes, some in used barriques.
The Hugel Pinot Gris Estate is a full to even lush white wine, in the traditional Alsatian style, semi-dry and very juicy in taste. The scent is reminiscent of ripe yellow fruits, with a delicate aroma of wood.
A little bit of modernity has now found its way into Hugel, this wine is sealed with DIAM corks.
