Franz Haas is one of the top addresses in South Tyrolean viticulture. He recognized early on that the future of South Tyrolean viticulture lay in the mountains. The vines for his Pinot Grigio grow at 350 to a remarkable 800 meters above sea level, the locations are ideally oriented to the south and south-west. The lower elevations give richness and maturity, the higher ones finesse and structure, resulting in the beautiful balance in this wine.
Fermentation and aging mainly take place in steel tanks and to a very small extent in barriques. After fermentation, the Pinot Grigio Alto Adige from Franz Haas stays on the fine lees for about four months. The current Pinot Grigio has a light straw yellow colour. The scent is reminiscent of acacia blossoms, fresh hay and almonds, and there is also a little sage. The taste of the wine convinces with the combination of freshness and creamy body, the finale is well balanced and the aftertaste lingers for a long time.
We particularly recommend it with grilled dishes (meat, fish, vegetables), pasta with mushroom sauce and a snack with bacon and cheese.
