A specialty at the Franz Haas winery is the Petit Manseng grape variety. It is used to alpine environments, although originally in the Pyrenees, where it is used as the main variety for Jurancon.

Franz Haas brought the Petit Manseng to the Alpine region in the 2010s, where it produces first-class results just like in its homeland. When ripe, the wine still has stable acidity and can age well. It was therefore planted at lower and therefore warmer altitudes in South Tyrol, as the freshness is still retained. The wine is an exciting niche product; there are usually only around 5,000 bottles per vintage.

At Franz Haas, Petit Manseng is fermented and matured in barriques. The result is an intense and aromatic white wine with notes of dried fruits and a cool minerality. On the palate it is grippy, deep and lively into the long finish. An exciting oddball that, according to the winery, goes perfectly with Thai dishes and Asian fish soups.
