The Landerer Pinot Noir village wine from Oberrotweil is from plots that are planted with French Pinot Noir clones, which is why the name Pinot Noir is also very apt in terms of taste.
The Landerer winery also remains true to the Burgundian style during aging; the wine is stored for twelve months in barriques, 30% of which were new, the remaining 70% aged in second and third use. This delicious Pinot Noir is bottled without prior filtration.
The Oberrotweiler Pinot Noir also goes one better than the already excellent Spatburgunder estate wine from Landerer. There is a noticeable increase in density and complexity here, and the barrique influence gives it a magical nobility without the aromas of the wood being even remotely intrusive. The wine has a garnet red color, the scent is perfectly balanced between ripe fruit notes and the aging aromas, the roasting is very fine, not a bit greasy or coarse, as is unfortunately quite often the case with German Pinots. On the palate the wine has a good bite, is minerally-elegant and wonderfully tight in the long finish.
In this price range you have to look for a long time in Burgundy until you find something of equal quality.
