The Chardonnay 17 Valley is the top product from Mount Riley from New Zealand. The grapes for this barrel wine come from various plots in Seventeen Valley and the St Andrews Vineyards.
The winemaking is emphatically artisanal and carefully designed. The harvest takes place here by hand, the grapes are gently pressed as a whole and are only fermented with the naturally present yeasts. The aging takes place with the yeasts in French 500L barrels, of which around 30% are new.
The Mount Riley Chardonnay 17 Valley smells of pome fruit and citrus fruits, and the wooden barrel aging contributes spicy roasted notes that give the wine the typical "international" Chardonnay style. Nevertheless, thanks to its lively acid structure, it also has its own character, is complex and full-bodied, with a long finish that leaves a creamy mouthfeel.
We recommend this rich white wine particularly with white meat, dishes with cream sauce or shellfish.
