Moulin-A-Vent is considered the king of the Beaujolais Crus. It combines the power and substance of a Morgon with the elegance of a Fleurie. The Cuvée Heritage from Domaine Paul Janin is a special wine. It comes from ancient vineyards whose vines have faithfully delivered their grapes to generations of the Janin family for between 80 and 100 years. After so many years, there are only a few per vine, but they result in more intense must or wine. The yield of these ancient vines was just 16 hl/ha in 2019 (55 hl/ha would be permitted).
This is a cuvée from the best batches of the winery, which come from the individual sites Les Burdelines, Les Greneriers, Aux Caves and Bruyères des Thorins. After careful cask tasting, it is decided which batches are good enough for the Moulin-A-Vent Héritage.
The enormously concentrated yet elegantly fresh Héritage Moulin-A-Vent by Paul Janin shows aromas such as cherries, ripe red berries and pepper on the nose. On the palate it presents itself with a lot of resilience, despite the soft tannins of the Gamay grape variety, the wine has a great train until the long finale. And I never tire of mentioning: this wine has considerable aging potential! Beaujolais of this class does not have to be drunk young.
