The Mazis-Chambertin is the northernmost Grand Cru in Gevrey-Chambertin and thus also the northernmost red Grand Cru of Burgundy. It is divided into two areas, the Mazis Bas and the higher quality Mazis Haut, where the plots of the Domaine Faiveley are located. The soil of the Mazis is similar to that in the Chambertin Clos de Bèze, which is why the Mazis is also regarded as the number three in terms of quality behind this and the Chambertin Grand Cru.

Faiveley describes his Mazis Chambertin as seductive, lively and very deep. The Domine Faiveley is one of the most important owners in the Mazis-Chambertin and makes a classically prepared Grand Cru, which, depending on the vintage, matures for 16 to 18 months in barriques, of which about 60% were new, the remaining barrels were previously occupied.< /p>

The 2017 vintage produced a Burgundy with a classic style, delicacy, freshness and elegance, the mace has relatively soft tannins and an extract-rich, almost fleshy, dense taste. You can already enjoy it, but it can also remain in the cellar for many years, depending on your taste. A great Burgundy!

Tim Atkin, Master of Wine, writes about the 2017 Faiveley Mazis-Chambertin for Decanter magazine: "The palest of the Faiveley family's mouthwatering array of grand cru reds, this is almost indecently scented, sensuous and appealing. Red cherry and raspberry fruit flavours combine playfully on the palate, framed by understated oak and crunchy acidity. 96/100".
