Matuško Vina is a long-established winery on the Peljesac peninsula in Dalmatia, on the Croatian coast. Their Dingac is probably the best-known wine from this spectacular steep site that slopes down to the sea.

The Plavac Mali grapes for this powerful red wine are harvested by hand and, after fermentation, stored in wooden barrels of various sizes for at least a year. The aroma is dominated by dark fruits such as blackberries and blueberries, plums and cherries, plus some toast and vanilla. On the palate it is full and intense, it has just the right tannin structure to give this juicy wine the necessary freshness. You can drink it young, but you can also store it in a cool cellar for at least 15 years after harvest. A Croatian classic.

It's best to try the Matusko Dingac with grilled meat, stews, game or short-roasted foods. Semi-firm or hard cheese also usually goes very well.
