The L’Extreme Blanc from Les Clos Perdus is probably made from the oldest white wine vines we have in our range. This plot with the Grenache Gris, Grenache Blanc and Grenache Noir grape varieties was planted in 1898! So she is over 120 years old. Impressive!
The steep location in the Vallée de l'Agly, with its dark slate-marl soil, slopes towards the northeast, which is ideal for white wines in the warm Roussillon region The heat here is not as extreme as in south-facing vineyards. This maintains the necessary freshness in the wine.
The harvest of L'Extrem Blanc is fermented without the addition of artificial yeasts in used 225 and 500 liter wooden barrels made of French oak. The wine then matures on the lees and is then bottled without fining and with only light filtration.
The 2020 vintage of this wine bears the name Extreme even more rightly than the others. The already very small harvest quantities of these ancient vines were further reduced by mildew and wild boar, so that there were only a modest 680 bottles of this vintage, which, according to Les Clos Perdus, are among the best ever produced from this vineyard became.
