The 2022 Le Volte dell'Ornellaia is characterized more by Cabernet Sauvignon than its predecessors, which had more Merlot. Therefore, it has a whole percent less alcohol by volume than 2021. In Le Volte, the grapes come from younger vineyards whose wine does not yet have the depth to be suitable for the Ornellaia first wine. The Le Volte benefits from the first-class know-how of the Ornellaia team and is prepared with great care and passion, so that it can definitely be described as an Ornellaia for everyday life. The refining takes place partly in used Ornellaia barriques, the second part is aged in cement tanks before the final cuvée is composed from these batches.
The winemaker of Le Volte describes the 2022 as follows: "The Le Volte dell'Ornellaia 2022 with its purple-red color of great intensity impresses on the nose with aromas of ripe fruits such as cherry and blackberry as well as some nuances of black pepper. On the palate It is full-bodied, with a lush volume at the start and a soft, persistent tannin structure. The finish is characterized by a beautiful freshness and a pleasantly fruity aroma."
