La Cenenaire, the (now over) hundred-year-old vines of the Chasselas variety in the AOC Pouilly-sur-Loire, produce a remarkably profound wine, of which the Domaine Serge Dagueneau only produces around 4,000 bottles every year. After manual harvesting and fermentation, the wine is stored on the lees until next March, which gives it structure and balance.

Valérie Dagueneau herself prefers to drink la Centenaire in the first three years after the harvest, but it can also be stored for longer. The very thin-skinned Chasselas berries produce a very soft white wine, the aromas of which are delicately reminiscent of honey and hazelnuts. A wonderful aperitif and accompaniment to all dishes from the sea, even white meat and vegetable dishes are ideal for this charming but deep wine.

The 2019 vintage received a gold medal in the wine guide Guide Gilbert & Gaillard, otherwise reviews are rare as the few bottles always sell quickly anyway.
