The Malvazija Selekcija from Kozlovic is relatively new to the winery's portfolio. It is located between the normal Malvazija and the single-vineyard Santa Lucia wine and is composed of particularly high-quality grapes from the Valle, Santa Lucia and Contarini vineyards.
The Selekcija is actually even creamier than the already very juicy basic Malvazija from Kozlovic and comes onto the market a year later when it has reached its first drinking stage. In principle, the Kozlovic Malvazija Selecija can be stored for a long time. It develops positively in the bottle for up to 10 years. It is matured without contact with wood, but sits on the fine lees in steel tanks for twelve months.
The Malvazija Selecija 2021 has a golden yellow color, which indicates the high ripeness of the grapes. Its aromas are reminiscent of yellow fruits such as peach and apricot, and you can also discover melon and white flowers. On the palate it is dry but very creamy and voluminous with a very long finish. The winery confidently describes this wine as a “work of art”. In any case, he is impressive.
Due to its fullness, this intense white wine from Istria is particularly suitable for intense dishes. Shrimp, grilled fish, white meat and poultry are ideal, and it also looks good with many types of cheese.
