The Pinot Noir vines in the Les Hauts Poirets plot of the Domaine Hoffmann-Jayer (formerly Jayer- Gilles). The vineyard is located at an altitude of 330 meters in the southern part of Nuits-Saint-Georges and has a south/southeast orientation, which is considered quite ideal.
The modest 0.29 hectares produce just around 900 bottles per vintage. With this small amount, you can get by with just a few wooden barrels per vintage, one of which was new in 2018.
The excellent 2018 vintage is characterized by a juicy style with ripe tannins. The high ripeness of the grapes and the old vines make this Pinot a little darker berry than is often the case with this variety, plus there is black cherry and some vanilla in an expansive scent. On the palate, the Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Hauts Poirets has a lot of pull and good extract, it ends long and completely harmoniously. A beautiful red Burgundy that has at least 15 years of aging potential.
