The Echézeaux Grand Cru is the best location in the Domaine Hoffmann-Jayer. The winery's plot is located in the sub-location "Echezeaux du Dessus", which borders the Grands-Echezeaux to the north.
Hoffmann-Jayer's plot is 0.53 hectares in size and planted with Pinot Noir vines that are on average 60 years old. That resulted in just 1250 bottles of this delicious Burgundy in 2020. As is usual with Hoffmann-Jayer, the Grand Cru Echezeaux was aged for a very long time, spending 21 months in wood, with a proportion of 50% new barrels.
For a Burgundy, the Echezeaux 2020 from Hoffmann-Jayer has a dark color with a ruby red tint. In addition to the ripe dark berries, the beguiling scent also has floral notes that are somewhat reminiscent of violets. On the palate it shows a lot of substance, is grippy and deep, the finish is very long-lasting and has plenty of extract.
