The Maximin Grünhaus winery cultivates three sites that are classified as Grosses Gewächs. Herrenberg is one of these "Crus". The soil and slope are largely comparable to the Abtsberg, only the back part of the Herrenberg is a little cooler, which plays into this vinyards advantage in warm vintages like 2022, as it increases the freshness. The GG from Herrenberg has a ripening potential of several decades.

Despite the warm year, the Herrenberg GG 2022 is full of finesse and freshness, the wine has a wonderfully stimulating acid structure and aromas of white fruits such as pear, as well as the typical herbal nose of the Maximin Grünhaus wines. On the palate it combines clarity, precision and length with a dance-like elegance that is only characteristic of the great wines of the Mosel, Saar and Ruwer.

James Suckling writes on his portal: "Super-concentrated and super-focused this is as juicy as it is brilliant." He rates the 2022 GG Herrenberg with a whopping 96/100 points.
