The Rioja Reserva Viña Alberdi has been in the portfolio of the traditional Rioja bodega La Rioja Alta since 1978. It consists of 100% Tempranillo grapes, whose vines have a remarkably high average age of over 40 years.
This red Rioja is the entry into the range of the classically prepared line from La Rioja Alta, but it is of extremely high quality! The Alberdi Reserva is stored in barriques from the winery's own cooperage for a total of twenty-four months.
In 2018, Rioja produced very elegant wines that are fresher than their predecessors from the very warm years of 2015 to 2017. Classic wines were produced in satisfactory quantities, so that the vines finally did not suffer from drought.
The Rioja Reserva Vina Alberdi shows a ruby red color. The open bouquet is reminiscent of cherries and ripe berries such as currants and raspberries, with notes of cinnamon and vanilla. On the palate it is well balanced at a high level, it has ripe tannins and lots of extract on the palate, which leaves a juicy mouthfeel. The whole thing is completed by a long-lasting finale. A great Rioja in a practical little bottle.
