The Gran Predicat of Cellers Grifoll Declara is made from Carinena or Carignan vines, some of which are over 100 years on their steep terraced slate sites stand in the DOCa Priorat. These sites are also high at 360 to 450 meters, which allows the grapes to ripen more slowly and thus intensify the development of aromas. The result is a complex red wine with the typical power and depth for which the Priorat origin is famous. The 15-month ageing period in French barriques further enhances its noblesse.
The Gran Predicat Priorat 2018 already shows its outstanding substance in the expansive fragrance, which is reminiscent of ripe dark berries, cedar wood, Mediterranean herbs and fine roasted notes. On the palate, the powerful depth is combined with the exceptional extract and the ripe tannins that give the wine its corset. All components are perfectly interwoven and result in a special red wine of a very high standard. Here too - as always with Grifoll Declara - a lot of wine for the money! Such Priorat wines easily cost twice as much.
The Gran Predicat is a perfect accompaniment to winter stews, but it is just as exciting as a meditation wine, e.g. with a good book in front of the fireplace.
