Redmont becomes Göttlesbrunn! Starting with the first-class 2021 vintage, the Markowitsch classic label Redmont becomes Göttlesbrunn red. The composition of the vines also changes a little bit, the Merlot (25%) used in the Redmont is dropped in favor of the Austrian grape varieties Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch. These come from calcareous Danube gravel soils from the Haidacker and Altenberg vineyards and, after spontaneous fermentation, matured for sixteen months in barriques and 500 liter French and Austrian oak barrels. The character of this Village wine has remained, it is a juicy and charming red wine with good depth. In contrast to many Western European wine-growing regions, 2021 was an exceptionally good vintage in Austria, which produced ripe grapes with the best balance, the wines have power, depth and an enchanting freshness. He is considered one of the very best of the last few decades. The Göttlesbrunn red from the Markowitsch winery enchants with its crystal-clear dark berry and cool aroma, which is typical for the Blaufränkisch, in combination with a lot of juice and the charm of the Zweigelt. This wonderful red wine tastes first-class even when young and will develop positively in the bottle for a few years. The Markowitsch family recommends the Göttlesbrunn red especially with game dishes and dark meat dishes with a stronger sauce. It can also be served chilled in the summer with vegetable dishes from the grill.
