The term Glarea comes from Rhaeto-Romanic and means gravel, which gave its name to this Chardonnay from Cantina Tramin due to the soil conditions of the vineyards. It grows at an altitude of between 220 and 280m, i.e. in rather warmer locations by South Tyrolean standards, which gives the wine enough power for fermentation and aging in wooden barrels. In some cases, malolactic fermentation is carried out, which makes the texture appear creamier. The wine is then aged in oak barrels of various sizes, from 225L barriques to 12hl wooden barrels.
The Glarea Chardonnay from Cantina Tramin has a straw yellow color with green reflections. Aromatically it is reminiscent of apricot, banana and pineapple, plus a little vanilla. On the palate it combines body and freshness, it appears firm and clear in its long-lasting finish. The cool precision and crystal-clear fruit are very typical of the excellent white wine vintage 2021.
This Chardonnay, tenderly oak kissed, is an ideal accompaniment to crustaceans and seafood, grilled fish, white meat and dishes with creamy sauces.
