Givry is located on the Côte Chalonnaise in southern Burgundy, west of the town of Chalon-sur-Saône. Givry is said to have been the favorite wine of King Henry IV (1553-1610), a fact still happily mentioned by local winemakers today. 90% of the wines from Givry are red, i.e. made from the Pinot Noir grape variety.

Givry by Maison Joseph Drouhin grows on limestone soils with the best south-east and south orientation. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are carefully sorted and 100% separated from the stems to obtain a charming Burgundy style. The wine is aged in barriques for 10 to 14 months, 15 to 20% of which are new.

The excellent 2020 vintage produced a round and seductive Givry that not only appeals to Burgundy lovers, but is a wine for everyone. It inspires with an intense nose reminiscent of cassis and red berries, plus the elegant influence of wood in the background. On the palate, the Givry Drouhin 2020 is wonderfully balanced despite its youth, the ripe tannins give the wine a pleasant freshness in the long finish. A wonderful Burgundy that doesn't overburden the budget.
