The Fleurie of the Chateau de la Chaize comes from different sites of this Cru de Beaujolais appellation, which are planted with many old vines that have an average age of around 40 years . It gives the wine depth and complexity. The great skill and passion of the team then ensures the implementation of the quality given by nature.
The winemaking recipe is similar to the estate's single vineyards, 10% are pressed as whole grapes, i.e. with the stalks, to give the rather low-tanning Gamay grape variety a little more grip. It is fermented with the naturally present yeasts and aged for nine months in large wooden barrels and concrete tanks.
Even if it sounds cliché, the Château de la Chaize Fleurie actually has floral aromas reminiscent of peonies, with a fine note of cherry, red berries and a hint of mint. A wonderfully delicate Cru de Beaujolais with depth, delicacy and the best balance. A beauty that is hard to resist. In the excellent 2020 vintage, this wine is of course particularly recommended.
