The Bodegas Epifanio Rivera Erial Tinto Fino (=Tempranillo) grows in the Ribera del Duero. The plots in the Pesquera de Duero subregion are planted with 30 and 60 year old vines, which give the wine a complex depth. The aging takes place three quarters in barriques made of French and one quarter of American oak and takes around a year.
The family winery covers around twenty hectares of vines, including some very old plots.
The Erial Tinto has a dark ruby red color with violet reflections. Its scent is reminiscent of ripe blackberries, vanilla, cherries and a hint of licorice. On the palate it shows a lot of bite thanks to its good extract, while the tannins are ripe and give the wine a fine freshness right through to the long finish.
You can get a lot of Ribera del Duero here at a more than reasonable price. Try it with pan-fried foods, game, pasta and semi-firm or firm cheeses.
