El Pedal Rioja Tempranillo is a fruity type of red wine that has only very subtle oak aromas, if any. It was matured for a whole year in cement tanks, 5000 liter barrels and 500L barrels, in which the wine finds its balance but hardly draws any aroma. The 100% Tempranillo grapes come only from vineyards owned by the Hermanos Hernaiz winery that grew in the Rioja Alta sub-region, precisely in the municipalities of Baños de Rioja Cenicero Fuenmayor, Hornos de Moncalvillo and Navarrete.

The El Pedal Tempranillo has a medium color density with a purple edge. The scent is reminiscent of ripe plums, cherries and very delicately of liquorice (that's so subtle, even people who don't like liquorice like the wine). On the palate it is fresh and dark berry, the wine is rather soft, but has just the right structure to be drinkable. This is excellently made and also unquestionably inexpensive! James Suckling gives this wine a whopping 91/100 points, which might be a bit of an exaggeration, but we still understand the euphoria, because you fall for this charmer pretty quickly.

Try this delicious red Rioja for festivities, barbecues, meat dishes, antipasti - or in this case rather tapas, pizza, etc. A perfect all-rounder that many people like and does without that annoying sweetness that unfortunately many people nowadays red wines is.
