1413 is the year when Disznókő was first mentioned. This Tokaji Edes Szamorodni bottling carries this historical number due to its high maturity and quality. The wine is made from the best plots of the winery and from 93% Furmint and 7% Hárslevelű grapes, the berries of which were fully or partially infected with Bortytis. This is how you achieve the high concentration of sugar that puts this wine in a sweetness category that is comparable to a 5 or 6 puttonyos wine.

In this respect, the 1413 is also a wine with a sensational price-quality ratio. The 1413 is mainly fermented in steel tanks, a small part of the must ferments in used wooden barrels. The wine then matures for 12 months in used 225L wooden barrels in the cool cellars of Disznókő. The barrel aging gives it a subtle wood tone. Which makes you think a little of Sauternes.

The 2018 1413 Tokaji Szamorodni has a lighter golden yellow color. It smells of citrus fruits such as oranges and tangerines, of sandalwood and honey. On the palate it is opulent, almost mouth-filling and with a juicy sweetness in the extremely long finish, which is supported by delicate tannins. A stunning concentration for this price range.

Serving suggestions: as an aperitif, with sushi, fish with cream sauce, duck with orange.
