The Cresasso from Zenato comes from a single vineyard in Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella, which is only planted with the Corvina grape variety. This vine is known as a component of many traditional red wines from the Vento, although it is rarely found in varietal form. With this excellent "Cru" wine, Zenato wants to show what top results this native vine is capable of.

The Ripasso method is used here for part of the harvest, in which the grapes are dried for about two months before they are pressed and fermented. This part is aged in French barriques for 24 months. The other part is left hanging on the vine for as long as possible in order to obtain a corresponding overripeness there. This then matures in steel tanks. The final Cresasso is then composed from these two parts.

In terms of intensity and fullness, the Cresasso is actually an Amarone, but the taste is a little different. A wine with its own character, which is why Zenato also calls it "Cru". It has a dense ruby red colour. The scent is reminiscent of red berries, black cherries, plums and cocoa. On the palate it is very full-bodied, tasty, warming and with a good bite thanks to the ripe tannins that structure the cresasso right up to its very long finish. By the way, 2016 is considered one of the greatest years of all time in Veneto.

A wine for the fireplace evening or with wintry braised dishes. Really impressive!
