The Le Clos from Chateau Thivin is the winery's house vineyard. The walled plot was already used for wine production in the 14th century, as an inscription "1383" attests. The soil is a combination of pink granite and volcanic earth with a southwest orientation.
The grapes are carefully hand-picked and, after fermentation, aged in wooden barrels, which give this deep Beaujolais Cru additional structure. At Chateau Thivin, the ideal drinking window for the Côte de Brouilly Le Clos is between two and seven years old, and in special vintages up to 10 years old. We're sure it'll last even longer.
2021 is a vintage of finesse, which is an ideal combination due to the slightly heavier soils of Le Clos, as the wine still has wonderful substance. Precision and clarity are beautifully crafted. A wonderful cru that is sometimes referred to as Le Clos Bertrand.
Château Thivin is the oldest winery in the AOP Côte de Brouilly, its origins go back to the 14th century. It has been owned by the Geoffray family since 1877. Tradition and high quality wherever you look.
