The Côtes du Rhône Visan La Rocaille is the top wine from Domaine Coste Chaude based on Grenache Noir. In addition, 20% comes from the winery's oldest Syrah vines, which are on average around 45 years old. The old vines provide complexity and aromatic depth in La Rocaille. The vines are on a high plateau that is ventilated by the mistral wind, so that vine diseases or rot are practically unknown here.
In addition to the typical concrete tanks, large wooden barrels are also used for 12 months of aging for this wine. La Rocaille is richer than the other two Grenache cuvées from Coste Chaude, as only the best and ripest grape material is used in this cuvée.
The powerful and first-class 2019 vintage resulted in a La Rocaille Côtes-du-Rhône Visan with juicy aromas of cherries, some mint, green tea and a hint of gingerbread spice. On the palate, La Rocaille is a full-bodied charmer, its beautiful softness is supported by a delicate tannin structure in the background that preserves the wine's liveliness. The spicy notes of the fragrance can be found in the long finale. An incredibly delicate wine. Enjoy it with braised dishes, grilled dishes or with game and poultry.
